About us

Welcome Message

Hello and welcome to Awfaz Global School (AGS). My name is Karen Brierly and I am the head of Early Years at Duhail. I have worked in Early Years and Foundation Stage education for over 10 years, in both the UK and Qatar. I believe that early experiences influence a child throughout life and a child-centred approach is where our children can develop their passion for learning and feel nurtured and secure.

I want to give our children the confidence to challenge, explore and question as they learn and discover. I feel that this is fundamental in helping them to develop their confidence and overall wellbeing.

At AGS, we strive to create a safe, engaging and happy environment where our children can develop and grow. Our dedicated and enthusiastic teaching staff are passionate about giving our young learners the best experiences. The whole team work together to bring learning ‘alive’ and extend pupils’ experiences so that they are well prepared for the next steps in their education.

We believe a happy child will be a successful child hence, we work to ensure every child enjoys school and achieves success. We do this by providing the best teaching and learning experiences that we can through an exciting and engaging curriculum.

I am excited about the future and I hope to continually evaluate our practices and ensure that we are offering our children an excellent foundation stage education.

Warm regards,

Ms Karen Brierly

OUR COMMUNITY

Welcome to Awfaz Global School Duhail

Welcome to Awfaz Global School, Kindergarden, Duhail. Our setting delivers the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which is a UK curriculum delivered in British schools. It follows a play-based child centered approach and is about supporting children in becoming independent and active learners. Our setting has 6 classes, three Foundation Stage 1 (FS1) classes and three Foundation Stage 2 (FS2) classes. In FS1 we have Bumblebees, Ladybugs and Butterflies and in FS2 we have Starlings, Falcons and Peacocks. We have a large outdoor environment, an activity role-play room and a well-stocked library. Our FS2 children also take part in Arabic lessons. We have a music teacher who is supporting our children in developing a love of music. We offer a ‘Practical Life’ program which teaches children valuable key life skills. We have a school-based nurse and a medical room. Our nurse supports the children’s wellbeing and educates the children on health-related matters.

AGS Student Councils

Children have the right to say what they think should happen, when adults are making decisions that affect them, and to have their opinions taken into account. We have embraced this philosophy at AGS and the newly formed Student Council has already, during it’s meeting, formed a Charter that identifies it’s role in the day-to-day running of the school.
